Calendula Soap

This gentle and nourishing botanical possesses soothing properties. Commonly referred to as Marigold, this annual herb is from the Family Asteraceae, the Sunflower Family. The Calendula plant is comprised of carotenoids, flavonoids and essential oils.

Used as a soap and as a detergent substance, Sodium Palmate is the sodium salt of fatty acids of palm oil. It is derived from the saponification of palm oil.

Used as a soap and as a detergent substance, Sodium Cocoate is the sodium salt of the fatty acid of coconut oil. It is derived from the saponification of coconut oil.

Weleda uses distilled and deionized water. Distilled water has been boiled and the steam has condensed, yielding pure, uncontaminated water.

In cosmetic products glycerin is used as a moisturizing agent due to its water-attracting properties and it makes skin feel smooth. Weleda uses glycerin derived from the coconut or palm kernel oil.

Sodium Olivate is used as a soap and as a detergent substance. It is the sodium salt of the fatty acid of olive oil and is derived from the saponification of olive oil.

Alcohol is another term for ethanol or ethyl alcohol. In manufacturing plant extracts contained in Weleda's products, mixtures of alcohol and water are used as extraction agents in some formulations. The consistency and stability of natural cosmetic products are improved by alcohol.
