Weleda uses distilled and deionized water. Distilled water has been boiled and the steam has condensed, yielding pure, uncontaminated water.

Used as a soap and as a detergent substance, Potassium Palmitate is the potassium salt of the fatty acid of palmitic acid. It is derived from the saponification of vegetable oils.

Used as a soap and as a detergent substance, Potassium Stearate is the potassium salt of the fatty acid of stearic acid. It is derived from the saponification of vegetable oils.

In cosmetic products glycerin is used as a moisturizing agent due to its water-attracting properties and it makes skin feel smooth. Weleda uses glycerin derived from the coconut or palm kernel oil.

Potassium Cocoate is the potassium salt of the fatty acid of coconut oil. It is derived from the saponification of coconut oil and is used as a soap and as a detergent substance.

Potassium Olivate is used as a soap and as a detergent substance. It is the potassium salt of the fatty acid of olive oil and is derived from the saponification of olive oil.

Fragrance (Parfum) is the collective name for raw materials that are used to perfume cosmetic products. For such products, Weleda only ever uses a mixture of essential oils. Synthetic fragrances are not utilized. (from essential oils)

Viola Tricolor Extract is very suitable for the care of dry and sensitive skin. The extract is especially characterized by its long-chain sugars. These form a moisturizing layer on the skin.

Alcohol is another term for ethanol or ethyl alcohol. In manufacturing plant extracts contained in Weleda's products, mixtures of alcohol and water are used as extraction agents in some formulations. The consistency and stability of natural cosmetic products are improved by alcohol.

Magnesium sulfate, also known as Epsom salts has a stabilising effect especially in W/O emulsions (water-in-oil-emulsions) and improves the consistency of the emulsion. In our oral care products we use a highly diluted form of the mineral magnesium sulfate which according to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature helps to support the substance formation of the teeth and gums.
